Large Quimbaya Figure with Gold Nose Ring – Colombia Ca. 1200-1400 CE
Hollow orange and tan earthenware. Seated female with legs stretched out front, hands to waist, slit eyes and mouth, prominent nose with gold ring through septum. Fine line and dot geometric bands on arms, wrists, thighs and ankles. Traces of white paint in a line and dot pattern on cheeks. Pierced three times on forehead. Porous surface all over, otherwise in very good, intact condition.
