Finely carved from a verdant green jade with elegant black inclusions, an avian axe god, the lower section a nice celt form, the upper section representing a perky bird denizen of the Costa Rican rainforest with a delicately delineated beak, striated bands mid-beak, incised crest feathers, jutting claws/feet below the beak. In the Pre-Columbian World, birds were regarded as animals of the celestial realm that served as messengers between humankind and their deities. Laterally drilled behind the beak.
